As I sat here reading an artcile that was passed on by one of our newer Female squaash players I decided I need to quote this article as it was such a great description of the game!
This is from the New Yorker magazine: " A good professional squash match is like a divorce". It brings out the worst in everybody! It requires intercession. As the rancor mounts on court, the combatants aren't supposed to talk to each other. Instead when a grievance arises-a plea for a let, usually- they must appeal to a referee, who rules on whether one played has impede the other. Squash is not a no-fault state!

Pays To Be Safe
Hi Squashie's,
Last night I was witness to what could have been the nastiest squash related accident I have seen. Jake Shepley (who has asked me to use him as a poster child) was hit in the eye with a squash ball by accident after his opponent had played his shot during a game at the club.
This is a prime example of why you MUST WEAR GLASSES whilst playing this game!
Jake, as you all know, is an accomplished singles and doubles player and current club champion in more than one category. Even good players can make mistakes and miss hit the ball. I still see many of you not wearing glasses when playing squash and it makes me cringe!
I wear them myself, not only during lessons, but also when competing in Pro tournaments in singles or doubles. I am a victim of being struck with a ball at least twice in the eye whilst playing a fellow professional. The comment "Well Pro's Don't Wear Glasses" does not make much sense to me. Even at the highest level of squash, where two players know where the ball is always going, miss hit shots can happen.
After all your eyes are very important. Putting up with a bit of sweat on your glasses or some slight fogging, is well worth it. I have glasses that won't fog and are much more comfortable than the old types in the shop.
I hope we can all help each other to make sure everyone is wearing glasses at the MAC Squash courts.
Cheers

Welcome to MAC Squash Members
G'day Squasher's,
I hope you have all had a great summer so far? I have been very busy with the clubs summer camp program and haven't seen as much of all of you as I would like but hopefully you have all been outside enjoying the weather while it lasts!!
We have an exciting season coming up and lots of new tournaments and events to entertain and encourage you to play this great game. Yesterdays STL Dispatch had a great article on how squash is the best workout ahead of any sport for your body, and works all your muscles, mind, flexibility and stamina and most of all burns about 1000 calories an hour!!!
I do hope you all enjoy the new website to provide information for you on programs here and I encourage you all to sign up and use the blog to express your questions on squash, playing, technique etc and suggestions to me so I can be the best pro for you all.
Also check out the New MAC Squash shirts at the Squashshop!!!
See you on the courts Soon
Cheers
